This is a great example of how well Ipe wood ages. This ipe deck is almost a decade old and hasn't been treated in any way. Of course the decks are in perfect shape (it'll last up to 100 years this way!), but you'll notice that the wood isn't the same deep brown color it is when ipe lumber is first installed. When Ipe decking "weathers" it develops a fine silvery patina on it's surface.Most people think it's beautiful, but some want the deck boards to remain the same color as they were when installed.
It's easy but unnecessary to keep the ipe looking brand new. Just brush some Ipe Oil on them! Regular sealers won't do for ipe as it's so dense they won't absorb into the wood. We feel like most people that the aged look is
