Garapa Deck Boards

Garapa is a very common word in Brazil. This causes some confusion when trying to find information about garapa decking. In Brazil the word "garapa" is what they call the juice that comes from a sugar cane plant. It's a very popular drink there in fact. It's also a common family name. Iin the U.S. and Canada, It's used to describe a wood used for flooring and decking. Garapa deck boards are also called: Apuleia Leiocarpa, Brazilian Ash, Garpia, Amarealao, Marotoa, Muiratua, or Muirajuba. One particular lumber import calls it "Garapa Gold" I believe.

Garapa deck boards are made from a fine grained timber that ranges in color from pale yellow to a warm golden brown. for those who like a lighter color deck it's the upscale choice. It will last far longer than untreated pine.
